Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said this for Mohamed Salah
Manchester (ANI): Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp paid special praise to his Egypt winger Mohamed Salah, calling him a “different animal” ahead of the Premier League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Salah has become a sensation since arriving at Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017. He has enthralled the fans with his remarkable attacking play and quick moves, deceiving defenders. Salah is on the verge of joining the list of Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson and Billy Liddell and becoming the fifth player to score 200 goals for Liverpool. The 31-year-old has scored 198 goals for the Merseyside club and is just two goals away from reaching the 200-goal mark. If he manages to score two goals against Manchester City, he will become the fifth Liverpool player to do so in the entire club history.
Ahead of the highly anticipated clash against the Premier League title defenders, Klopp praised the Egyptian winger and said in the pre-match press conference, “But now with all this experience, he is a completely different animal.
It’s still this desire to score that makes him the player he is. And that’s very special.” Even though the experienced forward has achieved a remarkable feat during his time in the Premier League, Klopp feels he can still improve his game. “Of course, he can improve, but it’s all about consistency in games, but it’s not really about him. Why would he be the first and last to quit in training if he didn’t want to improve? He gained that experience over the years and he knows a lot about the game and the situation and he is a completely different player to the boy who arrived here,” Klopp said. Liverpool will have to overcome the odds as Manchester City is unbeaten in the last 23 matches. Klopp feels that the only way to cause trouble for the Liverpool Blues is to make them uncomfortable in the game.
“The longer a race goes, the more likely it is to end! It’s a tough game, but nothing I can say really makes them weaker. Whatever happened last year or the year before that, is just a memory, nothing else, so we have to be ready for tomorrow. And that’s what we try to be and if we are, if we can be really uncomfortable for them, then we have a chance. If they feel comfortable in their game, there is no team that can beat them. But if we can change it, there’s a chance. Then we have to take it to the top… It feels like we are a little closer, but on match days, you have to win decisive battles on the pitch,” Klopp said.
