Logo, mascot for Khelo India Winter Games launched
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, alongside Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Brig BD Mishra (retd), inaugurated the logo and mascot for the Khelo India Winter Games 2024 on Tuesday.
During the ceremony, Sinha commended the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and conveyed his best wishes to the athletes, officials, and organizing committees. He emphasized that the Khelo India Winter Games celebrate sporting excellence, courage, and character against the stunning backdrop of snow-capped mountains, making it a remarkable sporting spectacle for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha also pointed out the significance of the chosen mascot for the Winter Games, the Snow Leopard. He highlighted that the Snow Leopard represents the natural heritage of the Himalayas, symbolizing the government’s commitment to the protection and preservation of wildlife.
In an additional note, it was revealed that in the 4th edition of the Winter Games, specific events such as snow skating, ice hockey, and curling have been relocated to Ladakh, while other sports will take place at the renowned ski resort of Gulmarg. This strategic decision aims to diversify the venues and showcase the unique sporting landscapes offered by both regions.
