Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress’ Channi wins Jalandhar seat
Chandigarh: Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday won from Jalandhar Reserve Parliamentary constituency by a margin of 1,75,993 votes. According to the Election Commission, former Punjab Chief Minister Channi defeated BJP’s Sushil Rinku.
Channi got 3.90 lakh votes while his nearest rival Rinku got 2.14 lakh votes. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Pawan Kumar Tinu came third with 2.08 lakh votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Mohinder Singh KP got 67,911 votes. Counting of votes for 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab began at 8 am amid tight security arrangements.
