Ludhiana: Farmers are preparing for a district-level strike on January 16.

Ludhiana: Officials and activists from various sections of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and trade unions have launched a program to raise awareness about the causes and consequences of implementing certain decisions of the central government. They appealed to residents, including farmers, laborers, and members of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) organizations, to participate in a protest at the district administrative offices on January 16th from 12 noon to 3 pm.
The activists, led by All India Kisan Sabha leader Baldev Singh Latala, alleged that the central government is bent on implementing anti-people policies and constitutional amendments with the intention of “pleasing its masters in the corporate sector.” They appealed to the people to support the SKM’s movement against the Electricity Amendment Act, the Seeds Bill, and the bill to replace the MGNREGA with the VB-G RAM G. The activists reiterated SKM’s earlier appeal to panchayat office-bearers to criticise orders received from the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department calling for Gram Sabhas to pass resolutions in favour of replacing MGNREGA with VB-G RAM G.
