Ludhiana: Girl jumps from bridge, seriously injured
Ludhiana: A girl preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge here. In the incident, the victim suffered both her legs fractured. According to information, Anshu fell off the Sherpur bridge under mysterious circumstances. People standing below the bridge rushed her to the civil hospital. Her condition is said to be critical, as she also has a fracture in her jaw. Later, the girl was admitted to another hospital by her family. The girl was in no position to say anything. Her family members said they are in shock and do not know what really happened.
Her father said he works in a hosiery unit and his 18-year-old daughter was preparing for NEET and was taking coaching from a private centre near Aarti Chowk. He said he has seven daughters and two sons. The victim was the youngest of all the children. The father said he received a call from the civil hospital late Friday night that his daughter had fallen off the bridge and was seriously injured. The hospital authorities also informed the police about the incident. SHO Rajesh Thakur of Thana Division Number 6 said that he has received information about the incident, but no complaint has been received from the family. However, the police is investigating the matter.
