Ludhiana: Youth dies of suspected drug overdose

Punjab: Jodhan police have started investigation into the mysterious death of Taranpreet Singh (18), a youth of Gujjarwal village. The body of Taranpreet Singh was recovered from an indoor stadium on Tuesday, a day after he went missing from home. Suspecting foul play behind the youth’s death, his family led by Gurdeep Singh has demanded action against some drug peddlers of the village who allegedly lured the victim into drug addiction.

Some villagers, led by sarpanch Hardeep Singh, Jamhoori Kisan Sabha leader Harnek Singh Gujjarwal and Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) leader Kuldeep Singh, staged a sit-in to expedite action in the case. Dakha DSP Varinder Singh Khosla said the police have arrested two of the four suspects suspected to be behind his death. The arrested suspects have been identified as Manpreet Singh Mani of Ransingh Kalan village and Jagtar Singh Tari of Gujjarwal village. Ranjeet Singh Sonu and Jagjivan Singh of Gujjarwal village have not been arrested yet.
