Maharashtra: Labor Minister Akash Phundkar inspected Tata Power Thermal Plant
Maharashtra: Labor Minister Advocate Akash Fundkar visited Tata Power’s thermal power generation station on Mahul Road in Chembur on Thursday to review industrial safety standards and inspect the plant’s boiler operations. The primary objective of the inspection was to comprehensively assess the plant’s safety systems, technical operations, and existing infrastructure.
During the visit, the Minister understood the intricacies of the plant’s safety procedures and technical operations. He also observed how daily operations are conducted at the power generation unit and the level of adherence to safety standards.
A team of high-level administrative and technical officials was also present during the inspection, including Deputy Secretary Deepak Pokale, Boiler Director Dhaval Antalurkar, and other senior department representatives. The officials jointly evaluated the plant’s safety systems and operational procedures.
Ashish Bhat, Tata Power’s Trombay Station Head, provided the Minister with a detailed briefing. He explained the plant’s daily operations, production processes, and technical challenges. Information was also provided about the modern and advanced systems adopted at the plant to ensure safe and efficient power generation.
Ashish Bhat stated that safety standards are consistently adhered to at the thermal power station, and special attention is paid to both production capacity and safety through technological upgrades. He also clarified that regular inspections and monitoring systems are in place to minimize any accidents or risks during plant operations.
During the inspection, Labor Minister Akash Fundkar urged officials to further strengthen safety standards. He stated that safety should be a top priority in industrial units, especially those operating heavy machinery and at high temperatures. He directed the concerned officials to regularly review safety measures and promptly address any lapses.
The inspection also examined the plant’s emergency response systems. The fire safety system, technical alarm systems, and employee training procedures were also reviewed. Officials stated that employees receive regular safety training to ensure prompt action in case of an emergency.
The Minister also noted that industrial safety is not limited to compliance with regulations; it is a continuous process in which both technological improvements and human resources play a vital role. He suggested that safety audits be made more effective and that emphasis be placed on adopting new technologies.
During the visit, issues such as industrial safety, production capacity, and technical efficiency were discussed in detail. Officials assured the Minister that all safety standards are being strictly followed and will be further improved in the future.
