Mahtari Vandan Yojana will give economic freedom to women
Raipur. Women empowerment brings that power in women, through which they can make an important contribution in giving themselves a positive role. She can take every decision related to life herself and live well in family and society. Women empowerment is to enable them to achieve their real rights in the society. Because of the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today India is among the largest economy countries in the world. The mothers and sisters here are going to have a big contribution in making developed Chhattisgarh along with making India developed. Chhattisgarh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai is committed to the empowerment of women of the state and for this, Mahtari Vandan Yojana has been started in the state. In Chhattisgarh, there is a custom of giving gifts, money and negligee to women during Teej-festivals and happiness. Chhattisgarh government is following the same tradition through Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, married women in the state will be given financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month (total Rs 12,000 annually), which will be deposited directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The objective of this scheme is to eliminate gender discrimination, inequality and increase the level of awareness among women in the state, to improve the economic self-reliance of women and to improve their health and nutritional levels. Its benefit will be available to those married women who are natives of Chhattisgarh and are 21 years of age or above as on January 1, 2024. Widows, divorced and abandoned women are also eligible for the scheme. Women are happy that they will be able to fulfill the small needs of their children and family with the amount received from Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has said that in the 2024-25 budget, his government’s focus is on GYAN i.e. poor, youth, food provider farmers and women empowerment. All sections have been taken care of in the budget. This budget is also the vision document of the government, which reflects the vision of all-round development of Chhattisgarh. He has said that his effort will be to double the state’s GDP in the coming five years. That is why, to make the women of the state self-reliant, a provision of Rs 3,000 crore has been made in the budget for Mahtari Vandan Yojana. In the first phase of filling applications under Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a provisional list of about 70 lakh women beneficiaries has been released and it has been published at Anganwadi centers and Gram Panchayat level. Chhattisgarh government will transfer Rs 1,000 each to the accounts of these women on March 7, a day before International Women’s Day.
