Maiden flight from Odisha’s Utkela airport to take off today, Check all details
Bhubaneswar: The maiden flight from Utkela airport is all to take off on August 31, i.e., today at 12:45 pm. The news was shared by Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The Utkela airport is situated 15 kilometers away from the district headquarters of Bhawanipatna of Mayurbhanj district.
Reportedly, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will be joining the inauguration event via video call. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik will be present at the Bhubaneswar airport. Kalahandi MP along with Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu will be present at the Utkela airport.
The air service has been initiated by IndiaOne Air using a nine-seater aircraft. As per reports, similar services are to be extended to Raipur and Chhatisgarh in the near future.
As per the latest updates from the airline’s website, the Utkela-Bhubaneswar flights will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flight schedule is as follows:
- Bhubaneswar to Utkela from 7:15 AM to 8:25 AM
- Utkela to Bhubaneswar from 8:50 AM to 10 AM
The introductory one-way fare has been set as Rs 999.
Utkela Airport is included in the regional connectivity scheme UDAN. The state government has reportedly invested Rs 162 crore in constructing the runway and the terminal building. The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) issued the flight license on August 7.
