Man arrested for making fake identity to buy several vehicles including 7 cars
Mumbai: Marine Drive police have arrested a man for submitting fake documents and obtaining vehicle loans from banks and finance companies. Police have seized 23 vehicles worth Rs 89.2 lakh from 48-year-old accused Sachin Billur of Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.
In 2020, Mohit Walekar applied for a loan for an Activa scooter from KJMC, a non-banking financial company, for which he submitted all the required documents. The company approved his loan but he stopped paying the monthly installment. Company officials went to the address given by him but the flat was vacant. They went to another address given by Walekar and discovered that someone was living there. After this the company filed a case against him at Marine Lines Police Station in 2022.
During investigation, the police came to know that Sachin Billur had purchased a flat in the name of Walekar. Further investigation into the sale agreement led to his arrest. It was found that he had purchased 23 vehicles, including seven cars, using similar fraudulent methods. He had also changed the parts and registration numbers of some vehicles. The investigation was conducted by police inspector Gonduram Bengal under the guidance of senior police inspector Nilesh Bagul of Marine Drive police station.
