Man beaten to death in Balangir for not returning friend’s bicycle

Balangir: A man was allegedly beaten to death for not returning the bicycle he had taken from a friend in a village in Odisha’s Balangir district.

The incident took place at Damkipali village under the jurisdiction of Larambha police station in the district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Tikelal Baig (32).

Sources said that Tikelal had borrowed a bicycle from his village friend Kuna Behera a few days ago. Since he had not yet returned the bicycle, Kuna and his colleague Om went to him to take it back.

When they met, a heated argument broke out and both of them brutally attacked Tikelal, seriously injuring him. Kuna and Om allegedly fled the scene after committing the act.

Tikelal was rescued by his family members and taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment.

Acting on the complaint of the deceased’s family, the police have registered a case and started investigation. A search has been started to trace and arrest the accused.
