Man gets 20 years imprisonment for raping minor girl
Jajpur: Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) court in Jajpur sentenced a 57-year-old man to 20 years imprisonment for raping a five-year-old girl. Based on the statements of seven eyewitnesses, the court found Prafulla Panda guilty and sentenced him to 20 years. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on him. If he does not pay the fine, he will have to remain in jail for six more months.
The court also directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSAS) to pay a compensation of Rs 7 lakh to the minor rape victim. It is worth noting here that Panda of Jajpur police station area allegedly asked to drop the girl to her home. Raped her in 2021 by making false promises.
Based on the complaint of the girl’s family, the police started investigating the case and arrested Panda and sent him to the court.
