Man suspected of cattle smuggling killed in BSF firing in Mankachar

Guwahati: A man suspected to be a cattle smuggler was killed in firing by a Border Security Force (BSF) team in Assam’s Mankachar on Thursday. According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Shaheenur Islam (26). The deceased was a resident of Char Kukurmara village of the district.
According to initial reports, the suspect had tried to escape from the BSF before being shot. While the BSF tried to stop him by merely firing, Islam suffered fatal injuries and died before any medical help could reach him. The incident took place in Kukurmara area near the India-Bangladesh border. Further investigation is being done.
