Imphal: A joint team of Central Security Force and Manipur Police arrested a man for possessing weapons without permission during a search operation in Imphal East district on Friday, police said on Saturday.
Thingom Sanmacha Meitei (44), a resident of Itham Awang Leikai under the Thoubal Dam police station, was arrested during the operation in the Thoubal Dam area.
After questioning him, police searched his house and recovered an SLR rifle with a magazine containing 12 rounds and two radio wireless sets.
A case has been registered under the Arms Act, 1959, and the Indian Penal Code (BNS), 2023. Further legal action is underway.
The report said that security forces are continuing search operations and area capture in the fringes and vulnerable areas of the district.
Movement of 236 vehicles carrying essential goods was ensured on NH-37, and strict security measures and escort convoys were deployed at sensitive stretches to ensure safe passage.
