
Imphal: A vehicle thief was caught red-handed in broad daylight and paraded before the public in the Tribal Market area of New Lambulane, under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district of Manipur.
City Traffic Control Police personnel, along with central forces, were performing their routine duties in the Tribal Market area when they noticed a young man suspiciously trying to start a two-wheeler.
When the traffic control personnel questioned him about his actions, the youth did not respond and fled the scene, leaving behind a bunch of keys he was using to try and start the vehicle. After a prolonged chase, the suspected vehicle thief was apprehended.
According to the morning bulletin issued by the Manipur Police on Wednesday, the incident occurred on January 25, 2026.
During questioning, the youth identified himself as Mohammad Sabir Khan, alias Boboi, 25 years old, a resident of Lilong Turel Khul in Thoubal district.
Police further stated that a Royal Enfield two-wheeler with registration number MN-01-AO-3481 was recovered from his possession.
Additionally, a mobile phone with a SIM card, a bunch of keys used in the crime, a helmet, and two electric circuits were also seized.
A case has been registered in this regard, and further legal proceedings are underway.
