Prayagraj: A major incident took place in the Ganga of Prayagraj on Friday afternoon. Many teenagers drowned while trying to save each other while bathing in the Ganges. As soon as information about the matter was received, top officials reached the spot. SDRF was also called. Rescue and relief work was started. But no one could be saved. All five bodies were recovered. Expressing grief over the accident, CM Yogi has directed the officials to provide all possible help to the families of the teenagers. The incident took place in Mehdauri Ganga alluvium of Shivkuti police station area. There was chaos after seeing five dead bodies together.

It is said that five teenagers Shani (16) son of Nandu resident of Bailey, Priyanshu (15) resident of Bailey, Mulayam (16) son of Girdhari resident of Mayorabad, Akash (16) resident of Bailey and Himanshu went to bathe in the Ganga located in Shivkuti police station area on Friday afternoon. (16) Son Rajesh Singh, resident of Mayorabad had come to take bath in Ganga.

While bathing, a teenager started drowning and another tried to save him. Meanwhile, while trying to save each other, all five started drowning. Before the people around could do anything, all five disappeared in the deep waters of the Ganges.

As soon as the five disappeared into the water, there was panic among other people present near the ghat. People informed the police and administration officials. As soon as the news of drowning of five teenagers was received, top officials also reached the spot. Divers were immediately lowered into the water and a message was given to SDRF to come.

After an hour of hard work, the divers took out the five bodies one by one. By then the relatives of the teenagers also reached the ghat. There was chaos after seeing the dead bodies of five teenagers together. Police have sent all five bodies for post-mortem.
