Massive earthquake in Venezuela; over 235 dead.

Venezuela: Two powerful earthquakes have caused massive devastation, plunging the entire country into a state of disaster and crisis. According to the Ministry of Health, the death toll had reached at least 235 by Thursday evening, with hundreds more reported injured. Relief and rescue operations have been intensified to retrieve people trapped under the rubble.

Reports indicate that two major earthquakes—measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude—struck the country on Wednesday within a span of just 40 seconds, shaking numerous cities and towns. These are considered among the most destructive earthquakes in decades and the most powerful to hit the region in over a century.

In the wake of the tremors, buildings collapsed, roads were damaged, and power and communication networks were disrupted. Rescue teams are working tirelessly in the hardest-hit areas to extract those trapped beneath the debris. Heavy machinery is being used to clear rubble in several locations, while local residents are also assisting with relief efforts.

Government officials have warned that the death toll could rise further, as people remain trapped under the rubble in several areas. Rescue teams are facing difficulties reaching the worst-affected zones, causing rescue operations to proceed slowly.

The Venezuelan government has fully mobilized emergency services, and relief centers have been established across the country. The injured are being admitted to nearby hospitals, where medical teams are working continuously to provide treatment. Additional medical staff have been deployed to hospitals overwhelmed by the high number of casualties.

According to a report by the Xinhua news agency, these earthquakes rank among the deadliest events to strike the South American nation in decades. Experts state that the high-magnitude quakes have caused extensive physical and human damage, severely disrupting normal life.

Local authorities have declared a state of emergency in the affected areas. The Army and other security forces have been deployed to accelerate rescue operations. Relief teams are continuously searching for survivors beneath the rubble, and people have been safely evacuated from several locations.

Thousands of people have been rendered homeless by the earthquake and are being sheltered in temporary camps. The government is providing food, water, and medical assistance. Additionally, there is a prospect of international aid to further expedite relief efforts.

Experts state that earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 are extremely powerful and cause extensive structural damage. This disaster has once again highlighted the importance of disaster management and building safety standards in earthquake-prone regions.

An atmosphere of fear and panic prevails among the local population. Many people are staying outdoors in open areas due to the continuing risk of aftershocks. The administration has urged people to remain in safe locations and avoid entering buildings unnecessarily.

Relief and rescue operations are currently underway on a war footing. The government and rescue agencies are working together to rescue as many people as possible. The situation remains critical, and there are fears that the number of casualties and injured persons could rise in the coming days.
