Mumbai: A woman and a minor boy were killed in a massive fire that broke out in a residential building in Mumbai’s Borivali West on Monday. According to BMC disaster control, three people have also been injured in this accident. The fire was reported around 12.15 pm. The fire incident took place in the nine-storey Veena Santoor Society in the crowded Saibaba Nagar area.

Fire was observed in electrical wires and installations on the first floor of the building and two fire engines were dispatched to the spot. Clouds of thick black smoke were seen coming out from the building, causing panic in the surrounding areas. Firefighters were controlling the fire.
A total of five injured people were taken to BMC’s Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West, of which two died, BMC disaster control said. The deceased have been identified as Glory Walfati (43) and Josu James Robert (8). Lakshmi Bura (40), Rajeshwari Bharatre (24) and Ranjana Shah (76) were injured in the incident. Officials said the work to extinguish the fire is still going on. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
