Mayor and MLA direct officials to expedite ongoing projects in Karnal

Karnal Mayor Renu Bala Gupta and MLA Jagmohan Anand met with Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials on Tuesday to review ongoing projects in the city. They directed officials to expedite work to ensure timely completion.
Taking serious note of the delays, Gupta and Anand directed officials to conduct feasibility checks before preparing estimates for any development work. Gupta said, “No project should begin without a proper feasibility assessment. Coordination between departments is essential for quality and timely completion.”
They stressed that administrative errors should not cause inconvenience to the public and directed strict action to be taken wherever necessary.
Anand emphasized the need for dedication and a positive approach from officials. “Development work must demonstrate efficiency and commitment. People expect visible progress, and we must work honestly and swiftly,” he said, instructing officials to properly maintain parks and improve the city’s overall aesthetics.
Commissioner Vaishali Sharma stated that the KMC would take immediate action on the instructions issued. She said, “All KMC divisions have been instructed to expedite ongoing work. Proposals requiring approval will be placed before the upcoming House meeting.” During the meeting, instructions were given to beautify Budhakheda Road, slip roads, and major intersections on the Indri Escape stretch. Officials were directed to complete the road from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk to Meerut Road as soon as possible and to construct several major roads using cement concrete.
The House will consider proposals to purchase 1,000 new streetlights for installation across the city and construct a single-pillar flyover from Mahatma Gandhi Chowk to Nirmal Kutiya Chowk. Plans for a multi-layer parking facility at the Old Sabzi Mandi and a commercial space building at the Old Anaj Mandi, which will be completed by July, were also reviewed.
They also discussed the construction of a parking and commercial center at the site of the old municipal office, beautification work from Maharaja Agrasen Chowk to Geeta Dwar, widening and beautifying the road from Meera Ghati Chowk to Namaste Chowk, and installing musical fountains at Karan Tal and Karan Park.
Meanwhile, instructions were given to remove illegal encroachments in Sector 6 and the Green Belt, demarcate the Mughal Canal from Sector 12 to Mela Ram School, and remove accumulated garbage to prevent fire incidents.
The Mayor and MLA directed officials to issue show-cause notices to builders of Alpha City, Chandigarh City, and Parsvnath City for the inconvenience caused to the public due to incomplete roadwork.
Furthermore, the NHAI representative was directed to ensure cleanliness on the highway and immediately cover the broken drain slabs, while UHBVN officials were directed to launch a special drive to remove tangled and hanging wires and replace damaged poles.
