New Delhi: Today is the second meeting of the special committee formed on One Country, One Election under the chairmanship of former President of the country Ramnath Kovind. The report of the 22nd Law Commission of the country will be discussed in this important meeting.

According to sources, in this the Law Commission will present the roadmap of one nation, one election, that is, the constitutional amendments to be made by the Parliament and the bills to be passed thereafter will be discussed. After this, the necessary basic arrangements and logistics will come along with the activities and proceedings of the Election Commission.
This committee will discuss with the Law Commission on measures to remove some important technical and legal hurdles. Earlier, the committee meeting was held on 23 September. In that meeting, an attempt was made to know the views of different political parties on this complex but important topic and system.
This committee had given the political parties the option to give their views in writing in the next three months. Law Commission Chairman Justice Rituraj Awasthi had said that in order to hold simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies, local bodies and Panchayats in the country, the government will have to make many important changes in the Constitution.
