Memory of ‘Buddha’s Ocean of Knowledge’ refreshed

Uttar Pradesh: On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, litterateur Dr. Avnish Rahi paid tribute to him by remembering him with reverence. On this occasion, he also shared that special memory related to his literary life, when the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had launched the joint work ‘Buddha Gyan Mahakaan’ of him and his father poet Amar Singh Rahi. Dr. Rahi described this occasion as an unforgettable memory of his and his father’s literary career.
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s birth anniversary refreshed the memories of that literary and cultural occasion years ago for Dr. Avnish Rahi. Along with the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, poet Amar Singh Rahi, Dr. Avnish Rahi and the then Aligarh MLA Vivek Bansal were also present at the inauguration ceremony of ‘Buddha Gyan Ocean’. The picture of that occasion still keeps the memories of this literary event alive.
Dr. Avnish Rahi said that the launch of their joint work at the hands of the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was not just a formal event for him, but was a moment in his literary life which can never be forgotten. This occasion was also very important for his father poet Amar Singh Rahi. That opportunity of presenting the joint literary efforts of father and son to the readers at the hands of the then Prime Minister of the country is still preserved as a proud memory for the family.
The theme of ‘Buddha Knowledge Ocean’ focuses on the life and philosophy of Gautam Buddha. In the work, an attempt has been made to present the thoughts and philosophy of life of Gautam Buddha through the Indian poetic tradition. Its specialty is that it has given place to many traditional poetic genres of Indian literature and folk tradition along with modern expression.
Popular poetic genres like Chhand, Savaiya, Lavni, Soratha, Doha and Chaupai have been used in the work. Along with this, traditional and endangered folk poetry genres like Baharatbeel, Chaubola and Radheshyam have also been included. In this way, ‘Buddha Gyan Mahakaan’ is not only a work presenting the life-philosophy of Gautam Buddha, but also brings out the diversity of the Indian folk poetry tradition.
The use of traditional poetic styles makes this work special. Indian literature has a rich tradition of genres like Doha, Chaupai, Savaiya and Soratha. At the same time, many folk poetry styles have moved away from the mainstream of literature with time. By giving place to such genres in ‘Buddha Gyan Ocean’, an attempt has been made to connect them with literary expression.
A combination of literature and folk tradition is visible in this joint work of Dr. Avnish Rahi and his father poet Amar Singh Rahi. The main features of this book include presenting a serious topic like the life philosophy of Gautam Buddha through different poetic styles. An attempt has been made to convey the thoughts of Buddha to the readers through various verses and folk-poetic forms.
The memory of this work became more special for Dr. Rahi after it was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Recalling the same moment on the occasion of his birth anniversary, he said that the launch of the work at the hands of Dr. Manmohan Singh is an unforgettable memory of his and his father’s literary life.
The picture of the inauguration ceremony also reminds of that period. In the picture, people associated with literature and public life are seen with the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. According to Dr. Avneesh Rahi, this picture still keeps the memory of that literary-cultural event alive.
While paying tribute to the former Prime Minister on his birth anniversary, Dr. Rahi gratefully remembered this literary incident associated with him. This memory is also special for him because it contains an important chapter related to his father’s literary pursuits and their joint work.
Through ‘Buddha Gyan Ocean’, where the philosophy of life of Gautam Buddha was given a literary form, many genres of Indian poetry and folk tradition also got a place together. The traditional and endangered poetic styles included in the book bring out the diversity of Indian literature.
This memory shared by Dr. Avnish Rahi on the birth anniversary of Dr. Manmohan Singh also recalls the connection created between literature and public life, when the joint literary work of him and poet Amar Singh Rahi was launched by the then Prime Minister. Even after years, that occasion is included in the memorable memories of his literary life.
Paying tribute to the former Prime Minister, Dr. Rahi said that he remembers that historic moment with gratitude. According to him, the launch of ‘Buddha Gyan Ocean’ at the hands of Dr. Manmohan Singh is such a chapter in his and his father’s literary life, the memory of which will always remain with them.
