Minister M.P. Swaminathan presented Kalai Semmal Award to 6 people

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Minister for Development and Information M.P. Saminathan presented the Kalai Semmal Awards to six artists for their outstanding work in traditional and modern styles of painting and sculpture.
Every year, the Tamil Nadu government’s Department of Arts and Culture presents the Kalai Semmal Awards to six talented artists in traditional and modern styles of painting and sculpture. The awardees receive a copper plaque, a prize money of ₹1 lakh, and a citation.
This year’s awards ceremony took place at the Chennai Secretariat on Wednesday. Tamil Development and Information Minister M.P. Saminathan presented the Kalai Semmal Awards to Ma. Balasubramaniam in the traditional painting category, D. Sreekanda Sthapathy and U. Padmanabhan in the traditional sculpture category, Munivar K. Vilvanathan and M. Raja in the modern painting category, and S. Shanthi in the modern sculpture category.
The event was attended by Tourism, Culture and Charities Secretary K. Manivasan and Culture Department Director S. Valmathi joined.
