Minjar Mela cricket tournament begins in Chamba

The Minjar Mela Cricket Tournament 2026 began in Chamba on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal (IAS) inaugurated the tournament, organized by the Chamba Police Department under the supervision of the Minjar Sports Committee.
Major SC Nair (Retd.), former secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, said the tournament received a very good response, with approximately 80 teams participating. He added that the winner and runner-up will receive trophies and cash prizes. Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani is the chairman of the Minjar Sports Committee.
Baror won the opening match by 20 runs over Kolka. Winning the toss, Baror elected to bat first and scored 170 runs in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Kolka was bowled out for 150. This annual tournament is one of the main sporting attractions associated with the historic Minjar Mela.
