More than 115 injured in fire incidents during Diwali

Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: Around 115 people, ranging from young to old and women to men, were injured in Cuttack-Bhubaneswar following fire incidents during Diwali celebrations this evening.

According to reports, so far more than 100 injured have been provided treatment at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Some of their faces, some hands and other parts of the body were burnt.

A special team is providing them treatment at a government hospital, sources said. Similarly, at least 15 people with burn injuries in firecracker-related accidents were admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack by 10 pm.

In view of the celebration of the Festival of Lights, the hospital has made special arrangements for the treatment of the injured people. Doctors of surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology departments have been asked to remain on alert. If necessary, seriously injured patients will be sent to different wards of the hospital for treatment.
