MP: Collector orders regular tank cleaning to prevent water-borne diseases in Neemuch

Madhya Pradesh: Neemuch Collector Himanshu Chandra has ordered all urban local bodies to prevent waterborne diseases by properly maintaining water sources and supply systems.
District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) Project Officer Parag Jain said the orders include regular cleaning of water sources and treatment plant filter beds. The correct amount of alum and chlorine should be used for purification. All overhead tanks should be cleaned regularly and have dates written on them. Hand pumps and tube wells should be disinfected using bleaching powder. Pipelines, especially those near drains and sewers, should be regularly checked to prevent leaks and contamination.
If people complain about water color or odor, the supply from that source should be immediately stopped. Alternative arrangements should be made, and problems should be resolved within 24 hours. All pipeline leaks need to be repaired within 24 hours.
