MP Minister: Cricketer Kranti Goud’s father reinstated in the police department

Bhopal: Munna Singh, the father of female cricketer Kranti Gaur, who was dismissed from his police constable job in 2012 for negligence on election duty, has been reinstated, senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang said on Monday.
The minister said on Monday, “Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had promised that cricketer Kranti Gaur’s father, who was dismissed from his police constable job, would be reinstated. Today, he has fulfilled his promise. This decision also demonstrates the BJP government’s commitment and respect for the athletes whose hard work brings glory to Madhya Pradesh.”
Kranti Gaur (22), a member of the Women’s Cricket World Cup-winning team, was welcomed by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in Bhopal last November. At that meeting, Gaur explained her family’s difficulties due to financial constraints and requested CM Yadav to reinstate her father in the police department.
After meeting CM Yadav, Kriti Gaur told the media that the family has faced immense difficulties since her father was suspended, forcing Kranti’s elder brother to work as a laborer and bus conductor to support the family of six children.
Kranti, a resident of Ghuwara village in Chhatarpur district of Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, has been leading the Indian team’s pace attack since July and performed particularly well during the England tour.
Chief Minister Yadav then accepted Kranti’s demand and promised that her father would resume his service in the police department as soon as possible. Kranti Gaur was also given ₹1 crore during an event held on Tribal Pride Day in Jabalpur on November 15.
Right-arm fast bowler Kranti Gaur played a key role in the Women’s World Cup, taking 9 wickets in 8 matches. His best performance came against arch-rivals Pakistan, where he took three wickets and finished with figures of 3/20.
He also took two wickets in the group stage match against New Zealand, but the biggest and most memorable wicket was saved for the semi-final.
