Mumbai man reaches hospital with knife in his neck, becomes hero on social media after survival

Navi Mumbai (IANS) | In a miraculous turn of events, a Mumbai businessman who was stabbed on the neck rushed to the hospital covered in blood on a motorcycle and survived after receiving timely treatment. The incident took place on the morning of June 3 when Tejas Jaidev Patil, 30, was stabbed in the neck by his younger brother Monish, 28. There was profuse bleeding after being stabbed in the neck. Tejas called his father-in-law, got on his motorcycle and drove straight to the emergency ward of MPCT Hospital.

The doctors immediately admitted him to the ICU where Dr. Prince Surana and the team of experts comprising Dr. Vinod Pachde, Dr. Aditya Patil and Dr. Mouneet Bhuta observed that Patil had a wound more than 8 cm deep. The knife was 60 percent penetrated in the delicate area on the right side of the neck, which was bleeding.

We had to do a very careful surgery to remove the knife, Dr Surana, head of the hospital, told IANS. Care had to be taken to see that no nerves or arteries in the neck were damaged, as this could lead to permanent disability or even life-threatening complications. The knife was completely jammed. It is a miracle that there was no damage to the nerves in the artery, otherwise he would have died instantly.

Dr. Surana said, Patil had a successful four-hour long surgery. Fortunately, the knife missed any major blood vessels supplying blood to the brain, or any vital nerves, which would have caused permanent damage.

He said that since Patil is recovering well, he is likely to be discharged on Wednesday or Thursday. The young patient has become a hero on social media networks, known for his courage in reaching the hospital on his own.

In his subsequent police statement, Patil said that his brother was a partner in their water tanker business, but was also an alcoholic, which made him neglect his work.

However, he is still clueless as to why Monish attacked him.

Meanwhile, the police have started looking for Monish who is absconding after committing the crime.
