Mumbai Police have arrested KRK in connection with the Oshiwara firing incident

Mumbai: Mumbai Police have arrested actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, popularly known as KRK, in connection with a two-round firing incident in the city’s Oshiwara area, where he was identified as the prime suspect, officials said on Saturday.

KRK was taken into custody by the police and brought to the Oshiwara police station late Friday evening for questioning in the case.

According to the police, the actor confessed to his involvement in the firing during his statement and stated that the shots were fired from his licensed weapon.

Officials further confirmed that the weapon has been seized and the necessary paperwork for further legal proceedings is underway.

According to information gathered during the investigation, the incident occurred on January 18, when two rounds were allegedly fired at a residential building in Oshiwara, Andheri.

During the investigation, officials recovered two bullets from the Nalanda Society, one from the second floor and the other from the fourth floor of the building.

According to officials, one of the flats allegedly belongs to a writer-director, while the other is occupied by a model.

An investigation team of approximately 18 personnel from the Oshiwara police station, led by Sanjay Chavan, and several teams from the Crime Branch were formed to investigate the firing incident.

Initially, investigators found no leads as CCTV footage from the area did not yield any incriminating evidence.

However, with the help of the forensic team, the police later indicated that the shots were likely fired from Kamaal R Khan’s bungalow.

A police source said that procedural formalities are underway and added that the actor’s formal arrest could be completed on Saturday.
