Mumbai Rains: Water Leaks From Roof Of Mulund Railway Station As City Witnesses Heavy Rainfall

Are the Mumbai local railway stations not ready for monsoon? A video from the Mulund railway station has gone viral on social media for filming an episode of water leakage amidst heavy rainfall in the city. It showed rainwater entering the platform due to a damaged roof, turning the space into what netizens dubbed a “waterfall.” Passengers on the respective platforms were seen using their umbrellas to avoid getting drenched.

Many Mumbaikars shared the video and made it go viral on Twitter. One of the users captioned it to read, “Railway station pe waterfall dekhna hai, Aajao dikha dunga boss (Wanna see waterfall? Come, we’ll show it to you).” Another hilariously tweeted, “Singapore Changi airport rain oculus comes to Mulund railway station.”

Mumbai woke up to a rainy morning as several areas in the city saw light to moderate rainfall on Sunday, June 25. The city has been receiving heavy rainfall since yesterday with waterlogging and traffic snarls reported at several low-lying areas last evening.

Mumbai’s temperature on Sunday morning is 24.5°C, while the humidity is 95%. The weather agency said maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30°C & 24°C.

So far, no disruptions in BEST bus or local train services have been reported while the traffic is running smoothly so far as the BMC quickly deployed pumps to clear out the accumulated water.
