Mumbai: Woman commits suicide by jumping from high building in Kandivali

Mumbai: An elderly woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the window of her 9th floor flat in north Mumbai’s Kandivali East on Monday, a police officer said.

Samta Nagar police station officer said that this incident took place in Sarova Tower of Thakur village in the morning.

The victim was undergoing treatment for depression.

“Mangla Praveen Rathod (60) lived in the house with her husband, three children and daughter-in-law. Her younger son had recently got married and had moved into his wife’s house, leaving the deceased for the last seven to eight days. Was in depression for months,” he said.

“He was undergoing treatment for depression at home. In the morning, when there was no one at home, he jumped from the window. He was declared brought dead when taken to a nearby hospital,” the officer said.

He said that an Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered and further investigation is underway as to why he took this step.
