Murder of public prosecutor in Tenkasi: Lawyers block road

Tamil Nadu: Lawyers in Tenkasi blocked a road demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrator of a stabbing incident involving a public prosecutor.
K. Muthukumaraswamy (46), a resident of Urmelazhagiyan village in the A.R.S. Nagar area near Idakal in Tenkasi district, worked as a public prosecutor at the Sengottai Court. He also served as the deputy organizer of the DMK district lawyers’ team.
His office is located in Koolakkadai Bazaar, Nadupalle, Tenkasi. Around 12 noon on Wednesday, Muthukumaraswamy was in his office when an uncle, Nabar, came in and stabbed him and fled.
The seriously injured man was rescued by police from the neighborhood and admitted to the Tenkasi District Head Government Hospital. He died in the intensive care unit.
Lawyers from across Tenkasi district protested on the highway in front of the government hospital, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. Traffic was halted for over half an hour. After District Superintendent of Police S. Arvind spoke with the protesters, they dispersed.

Muthukumaraswamy’s family includes his wife Rajathi (43), a son, and a daughter. Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the murder.
