Nagaland: Blacksmith training program held in Shamtor
Nagaland: The Shamtor District Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Employment, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, organized a blacksmith training program on March 5th at the District Cultural Hall in Shamtor, with ZIS as the training partner.
According to a DIPR report, speaking on the occasion, EAC Shamtor Mekato J. Aye emphasized the district administration’s goal of creating 3,000 skilled workers in the district. He encouraged participants to value the opportunity and time given to them, noting that many others had also expressed interest in participating in the training. He urged trainees not to wait for the distribution of tools and kits, but to start with the talent and knowledge they already possess.
He encouraged them to use this platform to learn from experts and trainers, share ideas, and enhance their traditional skills in blacksmithing.
Citing the district’s reputation for producing high-quality daos, shovels, and other traditional tools, he urged the trainees to think beyond making basic tools and explore how this craft could contribute not only to livelihoods but also to the local and social economy. Drawing inspiration from how the discovery of iron transformed human survival and development, he encouraged participants to expand their perspectives on this field.
Quoting the message “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are,” he reminded the trainees that every successful person starts small and urged them to actively utilize the skills learned during the training. The program was chaired by John Anar, while the welcome address was delivered by R. Qiuju.
