Naval exercise of 51 countries to prepare SOP

New Delhi: With the oceans emerging as a strategic fulcrum for geopolitical change, the Indian Navy is looking forward to welcoming 50 countries and developing agreements on operational procedures to assist in finding ways to handle emerging scenarios and tri-dimensional scenarios. Ready for.

The scenarios will be complex three-dimensional: air, surface and underwater. Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, Vice Chief of the Indian Navy, said Milan 2024 is a major effort to bring together friendly foreign countries for significant maritime activity. He said that 51 countries will participate in this event.

“While delegation level participation has been confirmed from more than 30 countries, 15 others will send their warships. The French Navy will come with an aircraft,” Sobti said.
From the Indian side, around 20 ships including aircraft carriers Vikrant and Vikramaditya and around 50 aircraft will participate in the exercise.
Important navies of the world are sending their warships, which include the navies of Russia, France, America, Japan, Australia, Iran, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Pakistan and China will not be part of this exercise. Canada will send its delegation led by a commander.

Navies will be allowed to incorporate and establish best practices and procedures and enable theoretical learning in the maritime domain through professional interactions.
The Indian Navy is actively maintaining international relations with other countries both militarily and diplomatically. The exercise is in line with India’s international diplomatic efforts, namely the ‘Act East Policy’ and ‘Security and Growth for All in the Region’.

This is the 12th edition of the exercise, with the largest participation ever from over 50 friendly foreign navies, and will be held off Visakhapatnam from 19-27 February.
It will consist of two phases – ‘Harbour’ and ‘Sea’. The ‘Harbour’ phase, aimed at promoting cultural and professional partnership among the participants, will include a maritime seminar, city parade at RK Beach, maritime technology exhibition, subject matter expert exchange, young officers’ meet and sports events.

Ranging from surface and sub-surface maneuvers to air activities, the four-day ‘Sea’ phase will feature scenario-based missions, live gunnery firing, maritime interdiction and VBSS, anti-surface, anti-submarine and air defense exercises and large-scale demonstrations . Support livelihoods using shared replenishment resources.
