Naxalite plot foiled, security forces recovered and destroyed pressure cooker IED.

Kanker. Security forces in the Kanker-Narayanpur border area of Chhattisgarh have once again achieved a major success, foiling the nefarious designs of Naxalites. During a joint search operation in the forested and hilly area on Sunday, a team of the DRG (District Reserve Guard) and BSF (Border Security Force) recovered a pressure cooker IED (Improvised Explosive Device), which was later safely defused and destroyed. The vigilance and prompt action of the security forces averted a potential major tragedy. According to information received, as part of the Naxalite eradication campaign, the joint team of the DRG and BSF was conducting a routine search in the sensitive forested and hilly areas surrounding the village of Kurkunj. During the operation, the soldiers detected signs of suspicious activity, prompting a thorough search of the area.
During the search, security forces discovered a pressure cooker IED hidden in the ground. Initial investigations estimated the explosive to weigh approximately 5 to 7 kilograms, which could have caused significant damage. Upon receiving information, the BSF’s Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was called to the scene. Following safety standards, the BDS carefully defused the IED and destroyed it in a controlled manner. According to officials, the IED was planted in a way that would detonate during the movement of security forces or civilians. The timely recovery averted a serious threat in the area. Security officials stated that Naxalites often plot to target soldiers by planting IEDs in forests and hilly areas.
However, due to continuous search operations and strong intelligence, such attempts are being thwarted. This action is being considered a significant achievement in the anti-Naxal campaign. Legal action is being taken at the Koylibeda police station in connection with the incident. Police and security forces have intensified searches and patrols in the area to immediately control any further suspicious activity. Security agencies say that anti-Naxal operations in the area will continue unabated, and the safety of the public remains a top priority. Local citizens have also expressed satisfaction with the security forces’ success. The increased security and vigilance in the area has created an atmosphere of trust among the people. Officials have appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious object or activity to the police or security forces.
