Naxalites targeted the railway track, broke it, trains stood still
Jamshedpur: In Jharkhand, Naxalites damaged the railway track by putting banners and posters. After this incident, trains passing through the track stood still. Actually, Naxalites put up banners on the third line of Manoharpur-Jharaikela railway track of Chakradharpur Railway Division on Tuesday night. After this, the railway operation had to be stopped. Banners were put up at two places near pole number 378/35A and 378/31A-35A. Manoharpur Police and Railway Protection Force patrolling party have recovered and seized the banners.
According to the information, Naxalites put up banners on the track at around 2 o’clock late night. Along with this, they also tried to damage the track by breaking the track’s pendant clip. Due to this, 22906 Howrah-Happa Express stood at Manoharpur from 5.47 to 6.18. Tata Alapunja Express also stood at Jharaikela.
GRP and RPF along with the police of the three districts are on alert regarding Wednesday’s Naxal bandh in Kolhan. GRP has been instructed to remain vigilant in the security of passengers and railway property with the help of RPF and police in Naxal-affected areas.
Rail SP Praveen Pushkar said that additional forces are being deployed at all stations on Chakulia to Manoharpur and Chaibasa-Chandil route. Trains have also been asked to run at low speed. Chakradharpur division RPF is preparing to run pilot engine or goods train ahead of passenger trains from late Tuesday night. RPF jawans have been ordered to remain vigilant in line patrolling and train escort duty. The intelligence report mentions a Naxal incident in Saranda. Naxalites have called for a bandh in protest against the death of comrades in the encounter in Kolhan in May and June.
A day before the Naxal bandh, on Monday night, Naxalites put up posters in Kiriburu and Chakradhar of West Singhbhum. Banners have been hung and posters have been put up at various places on NH-320D near Rangamati and Jenabeda of Chakradharpur police station area. The Naxalites have mentioned in the banners and posters that the bandh called in protest against their comrades killed in the encounter will be made successful.
