Odisha: A tragic incident has emerged from Bhadrak district, where a student allegedly committed suicide due to fear of failing the NEET exam. The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Prakash Barik, son of Giridhari Barik, a resident of Nunda village in the Tihidi block.
According to reports, Jyoti Prakash had appeared for the NEET exam for the second time this year. He had taken the medical entrance exam after completing his Plus Two studies, but failed the first time. This time too, he was under immense stress regarding the result. According to his family, he feared that his second attempt would also go poorly, causing him mental stress.
Family members reported that he was constantly distressed due to his failure in the exam and concerns about his future. Amidst this mental stress, he allegedly hanged himself at home when no one else was present. Upon learning of the incident, family members immediately rushed him to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination.
Following the incident, the area is mourning, and the family is in shock. Locals have also expressed grief over the incident and expressed concern about the increasing academic pressure on students.
After receiving the information, Bhadrak Town Police arrived at the scene and began investigating the matter. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and further investigation is underway. Police are also trying to determine what other reasons the student was under mental stress and what his activities were like before the incident.
