New ration card in Odisha to be issued soon: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister

Bhubaneswar: New ration card in Odisha shall be issued soon said the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister on Wednesday. As of now, a total of 6 lakh 19 thousand 836 families have applied for ration cards in the state.

There are 1017 families in Jeypore constituency. More than six lakh aspirants have applied. The process has been started in the district level to exclude ineligible beneficiaries. The KYC is being updated, informed the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krishnachandra Patra while interacting with the media in the Odisha Assembly premises.

He further said, the departmental officers have been instructed to exclude the ineligible beneficiaries. This work is going on at the district level. More than thousands of ineligible beneficiaries have been identified in many districts. Their name shall be struck off from the rolls.

He further added that, a new and final list of beneficiaries will be available in a few months. Under the National Food Security Act, 3,25,93,875 beneficiaries of 92 lakh 66 thousand 491 families are being benefited. However 10,02,144 beneficiaries of 3 lakh 15 thousand 237 families are benefiting under the State food security scheme, he further informed.
