Newly appointed doctors will have to work in rural areas for two years, the General Committee of Government Doctors has decided.
Tamil Nadu: The General Committee of government doctors has passed a resolution mandating that newly appointed doctors work in rural areas for two years.
The 13th State General Body meeting of the Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association (TNMOA) was held in Chennai on Wednesday. At this meeting, it was decided to dissolve the existing State Executive Committee, elect Dr. Karthishwaran as State President, Dr. Akilan as State General Secretary, and Dr. Rangasamy as Treasurer with the approval of the General Body, and reconstitute the State Executive Committee.
Furthermore, the government order 354 issued in 2009 during the tenure of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi should be reviewed. The government should also provide a ₹3,000 incentive to doctors working in primary health centers. All positions, including those of doctors, nurses, and staff, should be upgraded. Several resolutions were passed, including one mandating that doctors selected through the Medical Staff Selection Board must serve in rural areas for two years.
