Trial run of metro train between Porur-Vadapalani

Tamil Nadu: The first test run of the Porur-Vadapalani Metro line is taking place today (January 11).
The Chennai Metro Phase 2 project will include a route from Marina Beach Lighthouse to Poonamallee Roundabout, covering a distance of 26 km.
Vadapalani has already been included in the first phase of the metro project, while the second phase will include a third line from Mahakankarai to Poonamallee, extending through the Vadapalani Metro to Poonamallee. The 16 km metro rail line from Vadapalani to Poonamallee has already been completed. Train engines have been tested, and the design certificate for the railway line has been obtained. Since the railway track has been properly laid,
a certification from the Railway Track Safety Authority in Bangalore is required to operate trains on it. An application has been submitted by the Chennai Metro Rail Administration for track safety testing.
Accordingly, the metro rail track between Vadapalani and Poonthmalli will undergo a safety inspection in the last week of January, and trains will be operational on that route by next February.
In this situation, the Metro Rail Administration is conducting a test run of the entire train today (January 11) over a distance of 7 km between Porur and Vadapalani.
