No-confidence motion against anti-drug helpline police: Sunil Jakhar

Punjab: BJP state president Sunil Jakhar on Thursday said that the state Chief Minister’s announcement of a new anti-drug helpline as part of the second phase of the “War on Drugs Against Narcotics” campaign is a no-confidence motion against the state police, as the new helpline comes months after the first anti-narcotics helpline, which was supposed to be monitored by the police. Jakhar also said that if an “objectionable viral video” circulating on the internet depicting sacrilege involving Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann turns out to be genuine, Mann has no moral right to continue as Chief Minister.
Jakhar said that the launch of the new helpline and the formation of village committees to maintain law and order in the state demonstrate the failure of the first phase of the “War on Drugs Against Narcotics” campaign. The BJP state president made these remarks while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the BJP’s awareness and outreach “chaupal” regarding the VB G Ram G scheme in Jalandhar on Thursday. Taking aim at the state government over Phase II of the campaign against narcotics, Jakhar said, “They have now shared a new number, which will be monitored by the CM’s office. The CM seems to have forgotten that on August 28, 2025, he also announced a helpline number for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force – 9779100200 – which was to be monitored by the DGP and the police.”
