No nominated posts for inactive leaders in the party: CM Revanth
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked leaders in the Congress’s state unit to stop visiting Gandhi Bhavan until the last date for submitting SIR applications — August 3. He expressed his displeasure over leaders not visiting the field and not actively participating in the SIR exercise in the districts. He also warned that nominated chairman posts would not be given to those who remain inactive during the SIR campaign.
The Chief Minister stressed that in-charge Ministers should take responsibility for supervising the SIR process. A comprehensive review will be held on July 30 to assess the Assembly constituency-wise progress of the SIR.
The Chief Minister participated in a virtual meeting on SIR, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC president Mahesh Goud, State Party Affairs In-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant, along with Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs, constituency in-charges and SIR coordinators.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister warned that strict action would be taken if MPs failed to perform their duties in the constituencies where they had been appointed as in-charges.
Since the deadline for SIR has been extended to August 3, he said it should be treated as an opportunity to reach out to people. Stating that a SIR review with all 10 in-charge Ministers would be held on Monday, Revanth Reddy directed MPs to organise periodic reviews even while attending Parliament sessions. So far, the Congress party has conducted 489 SIR meetings across the 119 Assembly constituencies.
The Chief Minister said immediate attention was required in the most backward constituencies.
Revanth Reddy directed MLAs, constituency in-charges and chairpersons to examine reports submitted by Booth Level Agents (BLAs) rather than relying solely on those from Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Strict action would be taken against in-charges who depended only on BLO reports.
Revanth Reddy emphasised that leaders should effectively utilise the BLAs working on behalf of the party. He said the presence of leaders at the grassroots level was mandatory. All in-charges were instructed to tour their Assembly constituencies over the next 10 days. Ministers, MLAs, in-charges, corporation chairpersons and party in-charges appointed for the SIR should undertake these visits. The Gandhi Bhavan team was also directed to continuously monitor BLA and BLO reports.
The Chief Minister said the 100 best-performing BLAs would be given an opportunity to meet Rahul Gandhi and have a photograph taken with him.
