Noida news: Fire broke out in garment company due to AC blast, LPG cylinder exploded due to heat
NOIDA: A fire broke out on Monday due to a short circuit in the air-conditioning system of a private company here and an LPG cylinder also exploded on the third floor of the building while firefighting operations were underway, officials said. No civilian or firefighter was injured in the incident and both the fires were extinguished safely, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Choubey said. The fire broke out on the ground and second floors of a textile manufacturing company named KM Leasing Ltd located in Sector 10, he said. “The fire service unit was informed about a fire at a textile and printing company in Sector 10 at 10.03 am. Acting immediately on the information, we rushed eight vehicles (fire engines) to the spot,” Choubey said. The fire was almost about to be extinguished when an LPG cylinder exploded on the third floor of the building, spreading the fire to that floor. However, the fire was quickly doused, he said. The CFO said the factory was closed and the fire broke out due to a short circuit when its air conditioner was switched on in the morning.
“We were not informed in time about the presence of LPG cylinders on the third floor of the building. Our firefighters had extinguished the fire (on the lower floors) but the LPG cylinder on the third floor exploded due to the heat,” Choubey said. There were no casualties in the incident, the official said. According to officials, in a similar incident, a fire broke out at an IT company in Noida’s Sector 63 on June 1 due to an explosion in the indoor unit of an air conditioner. According to officials, ‘AC blast’ generally means an explosion or fire in an air conditioning (AC) unit. According to officials, such incidents can occur due to a variety of reasons, often related to electrical or mechanical failures. Officials have also urged the general public not to run their ACs continuously for long hours to prevent any accidents during the extreme summer season.
