Tamil Nadu: Additional staff approved to prevent power cuts during monsoon

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has taken special steps to prevent incidents of power cuts and interruption in power supply during the South-West and North-East monsoon in the state. Under this, the Board has ordered all zonal and district officers to ensure immediate resolution of emergencies occurring during the monsoon season.

In the last few years, there have been several incidents of power failure in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, coastal districts and delta areas during monsoon. These incidents had an impact on the general public and industries. People faced immense hardships due to prolonged interruption in power supply.

Keeping this situation in mind, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has approved deployment of additional staff in power distribution units, urban and rural electricity circle offices across the state. This staff will work on a temporary basis and will be responsible for immediately repairing power cuts in emergency situations.

The board’s order also states that all officials will have to regularly monitor the power supply situation during monsoon and ensure immediate resolution of any technical or structural problems. The objective of this initiative is to provide uninterrupted electricity to the general public and reduce the problems arising during the monsoon season.

Officials say that this step will bring stability in power supply and consumers will not have to face power cuts for long periods of time. Additionally, this measure will also provide relief to industries and business establishments as power cuts impact production and services.

Under this scheme, the Board has directed to deploy immediate repair teams in every district. These teams will immediately rectify line faults, transformer breakdown or other technical problems. Along with this, the use of helpline numbers and digital platforms will also be increased to inform consumers about any inconvenience in power supply.

Experts say that during the monsoon season, the pressure on the power network increases and incidents of line faults or transformer failure often increase due to situations like falling trees, heavy rains and floods. In such a situation, additional staff and immediate repair teams will help in maintaining continuity of power supply.

Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has also clarified that the move is aimed not only at reducing power cuts but also at maintaining consumer confidence and responding swiftly to emergencies. In future, the Board plans to further strengthen the quality and continuity of power supply in all cities and rural areas.

Under this initiative, citizens of the state are expected to get stability in power supply in monsoon. Officials say that this scheme will be helpful in reducing the incidence of power cuts to a great extent in the coming years and consumers will get better services.
