Odisha: Condolences pour-in for eminent Odia music director Swaroop Nayak

Bhubaneswar: Condolences poured in from all sections of society for noted Oriya music director and lyricist Swaroop Nayak, who breathed his last today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samant, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI)-Kolkata Director Himanshu Shekhar Khatua and many others condoled the demise of the renowned Odia music director and lyricist. Patnaik said on his Twitter handle, “I am saddened to know about the demise of renowned music director and lyricist Swaroop Nayak. His unique musical compositions will always hold a special place in the hearts of music lovers. He will always be remembered for his valuable contribution in enriching the world of Oriya cinema. May his soul rest in peace and my condolences to the bereaved family members.” Similarly, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on his ‘X’ handle, “Saddened to hear the news of the demise of prominent music director, lyricist and actor Swaroop Nayak. He made his mark in music direction. He has contributed immensely to the world of Oriya film and music. Odisha lost a brilliant star in the Oriya music industry. May his soul rest in peace. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family.” Achyuta Samant and Himanshu Shekhar Khatua also expressed deep grief over the demise of Swaroop Nayak. Swaroop Nayak was the music director of the film ‘Kathantara’ directed by Himanshu Khatua. Additionally, she lent her voice for the film produced by Kadambini Media Pvt. Ltd. Ltd. The thing to note here is that Swaroop Nayak died at the age of 76 during treatment in a private hospital in Cuttack. His last rites will be performed in Cuttack tomorrow.
