Odisha govt constitutes all-party high-level committee to resolve Mahanadi water dispute

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has constituted an all-party high-level committee to resolve the long-standing dispute over water of the Mahanadi river.

In view of the ongoing discussions and proceedings before the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal (MWDT) by the Water Resources Department of the State Government and considering the complexity and sensitivity of the Mahanadi water dispute, the Government constituted the high-level committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

This committee, which was formed following the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has been tasked to examine all relevant aspects related to the Mahanadi water and provide necessary policy guidance to the efforts being made at the technical and administrative levels of the State.

The seven members of the high-level committee include three senior Ministers, Government Chief Whip and three MLAs of different political parties. They are;

Minister Suresh Pujari,
Minister Prithviraj Harichandan
Minister Sampad Chandra Swain,
Government Chief Whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan,
MLA Niranjan Pujari,
MLA Jaynarayan Mishra
MLA Sofia Firdous
