Odisha: Kaliya Dalana Niti of Lord Jagannath to be carried out at Puri Srimandir today
Puri: The ‘Kaliya Dalana Niti’ of Lord Jagannath is to take place in Puri Srimandir today. This day is observed on the Ekadashi of Krishna Pakhya of the Bhadraba month every year.
The ‘Banabhoji Besa’ of Lord Jagannath was conducted yesterday. The ‘Kolibika’ ritual and the ritual of slaying Bakasur and Arghyaasur were held yesterday. Lord Jagannath was dressed up like ‘Bal Gopal’ while Lord Balabhadra was dressed up like ‘Balarama’.
Today, after the afternoon prayers, Pujapanda Samanta will perform the ‘Agyan Mala ritual.’ Post which, Madanmohan and Ramakrishna will be taken to the ‘Jhulana Mandap’ for further rituals. Next, the lords will be taken to the ‘Labanikhia Mandap’ situated near the Lokanath road.
Over there, Puja and ‘Sitala Bhoga’ rituals are to be carried out. Post which, the ‘Kaliya Dalana Niti’ of Lord Jagannath will take place. Post the completion of all the rituals, Lord Jagannath will be seated at the Ratna Singhasan where his ‘Kaliya Dalana Besa’ ritual will be performed.
