Odisha Reels Under Heatwave, Mercury Crosses 41 Degree Celsius In 9 Places
Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to reel under hot and humid condition as 16 places in the state registered maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Thursday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, mercury crossed 41 degree C in as many as 9 places with Boudh and Jharsuguda recording highest day temperature of 43.4 degree C on the day.
Sambalpur recorded 43.3 degree Celsius, followed by Hirakud with 42.3, Sundargarh 42.1, Rourkela 42, Angul 41.7, Sonepur 41.3, Balangir 41.2 and Titlagarh, Talcher and Nuapada 41 degree Celsius.
The IMD forecast that there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in next 3 days and rise thereafter across Odisha.
Maximum temperature is very likely to be 40 degree C and above at a few places in interior Odisha during next 5 days. Hot and discomfort weather is very likely at a few places during the period.
The Met office has advised the people to take precautionary measures while going outside in next 5 days.
