Odisha Vigilance arrests Raighar PEO for misappropriating funds around Rs 1 crore

Nabarangpur: Odisha Vigilance sleuths have arrested the Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) of Raighar block, Surendra Bhatra for misappropriation of funds worth Rs 1 crore.

Acting on a tip off, Odisha Vigilance have arrested him after he was unable to show the official expenses of the Rs 1 crore. Upon enquiry he was unable to testify the utilization of money which cleared that he had embezzled the money.

Two Sarpanchs of Raighar block and the Block Development Officer (BDO) had lodged a complaint for the misappropriation of money by the accused in Kundei police station. Following it, the Vigilance arrested the PEO.
