On being called the national crush, Tripti Dimri said, ‘I never took myself seriously’
New Delhi: Tripti Dimri is in front of the audience again with ‘Bad News’. This film has once again brought good news for her. The actress’ skills are being appreciated by critics and audiences. Tripti is ruling the hearts of fans with movies like ‘Kala’ and ‘Animal’. This is the reason why fans have given her the title of ‘National Crush’.
How does the young actor who has spent seven years in the industry feel about the tag of National Crush? When asked this, she says that I never took myself seriously as an actor. Tripti spoke to the news agency. “It has been very exciting. When I started, I didn’t know I would be working with such great actors and directors because I had never taken myself so seriously as an actor before,” she said.
After working in her first film, the actress left everything to fate. “I thought, ‘okay, I got one film. Let’s see if I get another film or not. But luckily, the stars were in my favour and my audition for ‘Laila Majnu’ cleared,” she said. Tripti revealed that she did not initially go for the audition for Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Laila Majnu’. She was spotted by the film’s casting director.
“I did not go for the audition, but the casting director found me. He said I look Kashmiri and I should audition for it, and that’s how I got the film. That’s when I thought maybe there is something for me here and I should take it seriously.” The actress said that she did not know what acting was. She said, “I never took acting classes. I did not know any concept of good, bad or overacting. So, after the first schedule of ‘Laila Majnu’ was over, I took admission in acting classes and then I understood the world…” The actress said, “I think my journey in the industry has been wonderful. The love I have received from fans for acting in ‘Kala’, ‘Bulbul’, ‘Laila Majnu’ and ‘Animal’ makes me feel good… When you start working on a project, you want people to connect with the characters you play. When that happens, I feel really good.” After acting in Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’, everything has been positive for Tripti in 2023. She was given the tag of ‘National Crush’.
When asked how she feels about this tag, Tripti replied, “More than the tag, it is love. It feels amazing, as I have said, whenever you do a project, you want people to see you and remember you and the names of the characters. When this happens, I feel very happy. People call me ‘Bulbul’ or ‘Kala’… If I go to Kashmir, no one calls me by my name, they say ‘Laila’…”
She said, “This love helps you grow as an actor. It motivates you to work harder, so that you can win the trust and hearts of people.”
Regarding the comedy film ‘Bad News’, which released on July 19, the actress said that comedy is a tough format. What the audience finds funny on screen has to be executed very seriously during shooting. As an actor, she feels that it is very difficult to succeed in it. The actress said, “This is my first comedy film, and I was very nervous initially, the first time is always difficult, but I was also excited. As an actor, I always want to try different things.”
Trupti said that she does not want to stay in the comfort zone. She said, “If you keep doing the same kind of work, you will find your comfort zone. If you are in your comfort zone, there is no scope to move forward.”
