On the 15th anniversary of 26/11 terrorist attack, CM and Governor paid tribute to the martyred security personnel.

Mumbai (ANI): On the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday paid floral tributes to security personnel who laid down their lives fighting terrorists from across the border. Pakistan.
A group of heavily armed terrorists from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba had wreaked havoc in the country’s commercial capital on the night of 26/11 15 years ago, opening fire on unarmed civilians at several key public establishments in the city.
More than 166 people, including foreigners, were killed and more than 300 injured in the attacks. While one terrorist, Ajmal Amir Kasab, was captured alive, others were taken out in the final stages of the four-day siege.

The Governor and the CM laid floral tributes at the Martyr Memorial in the premises of the Police Commissioner’s office in South Mumbai.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and several state ministers including Deepak Vasant Kesarkar and Mangal Prabhat Lodha were also present at the condolence ceremony.
At least 18 security personnel of the state police and elite National Security Guard (NSG) sacrificed their lives in the line of duty in the 26/11 attacks.
The coordinated terrorist attacks by Lashkar men shocked the country and the world.
Those killed in the attacks included then Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, NSG Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Mumbai Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte, Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tukaram Omble.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Taj Mahal Hotel, Leopold Café, Cama Hospital and Nariman House Jewish Community Centre, now named Nariman Light House, were among the sites targeted by terrorists during the 26/11 attacks.
Kasab was caught and arrested at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, commonly known as CST.

In May 2010, Kasab was sentenced to death and hanged two years later in a maximum security prison in Pune city.
Although many years have passed since this dastardly terrorist attack, the emotional wounds of the four days of devastation still remain in people’s memory. (ANI)
